  • Pottery painting is about relaxing and embracing your creativity.

On the day, you’ll choose from a range of pre-made ceramics (bowls, mugs, plates etc) and then you’ll spend up to 2 hours painting it however you like.

Once your masterpiece is complete, we’ll glaze it and fire it in our kiln. This process makes your creation durable and dishwasher safe.

Your piece will be ready for collection within 7-10 days, though postage can be arranged for a fee.

    Then it’s all yours!

  • Not at all! One of the best things about pottery painting is that it’s suitable for everyone, no matter your skill level. It’s about giving yourself permission to be creative, not about what the finished article looks like.

  • Absolutely. Whilst younger children should be supervised, the great thing about pottery painting is that it’s something all ages can enjoy.

  • As long as you can hold a paintbrush, then pottery painting is something you can enjoy.

The Lodge is a single-story building, with no steps, but please get in touch if you have any concerns and we’ll be happy to explain our facilities.

  • 1. Get in touch to book your session here at The Lodge.

    2. Choose from our extensive selection of bisque ware (unglazed pottery). This can be whatever takes your fancy - perhaps a dinner plate, or mug, or maybe even a dragon?

    3. Then you pick your underglaze colour and use our brushes, sponges and dibbers to unleash your inner Picasso. We can help you with ideas and techniques - pottery painting is for anyone!

    4. When you’re finished, we will let the piece completely dry before putting on a clear top glaze and firing it in our kiln. All glazes are food safe and the functional pieces can be washed in a dishwasher.

    5. The piece will be ready for collection in 7 - 10 days.

  • If you need to cancel please just let us know as soon as possible on hello@thelodgeballyowen.ie.

For larger bookings, we ask for a 20% deposit. If you paid one of these but cancel more than 5 days before you were due to come, we’ll refund you in full. If it’s less than 5 days before your booking, we’ll need to keep hold of your deposit to cover our costs.

  • After your session is finished, we need to first glaze, then fire your painted pottery in our kiln.

When this is complete - usually no longer than 10 days after your session - we’ll email you to let you know and to arrange collection.

In special cases we can arrange for postage, however this will be for an additional fee and we can take no responsibility for any damage that may occur during transit.

  • This is incredibly rare, but accidents do sometimes happen. In this situation we’d be happy to offer you a voucher off your next visit.

  • Because of the handmade nature of pottery painting, very occasionally something may go wrong during the process of decorating, glazing or firing.

If this happens we always work hard to make it right in whatever way we can, either by correcting it, repainting, offering for you to come and redo the piece or of course offering a refund.

We want our customers to be happy with their creation, so we will deal with any problems individually.
